A “security incident” led to the evacuation of Jersey Airport this morning, Ports of Jersey has confirmed.
In a statement issued at 08:57 today, Ports said: “The airport has been evacuated due to a security incident and we are working with States of Jersey Police to manage the incident.”

The statement continued: “Airport Operations are currently suspended. We are advising passengers to contact their airlines for updates.
“We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the cooperation and understanding of passengers during this time.
“Our top priority is ensuring the safety and security of everyone at the airport.
“Further information will be issued.”
Police added that “islanders have all been safely evacuated to Strive [sports centre] and will be there until further notice”.
The airport was evacuated at around 06:30 this morning while emergency services, including armed police, attended the scene to deal with an “incident”.


One eye-witness said that the incident had appeared to be a fire alarm at first, with passengers moved to the car park, but this area was then cleared as the entire airport grounds were evacuated.
“We were told it was a serious incident and that it could be a few hours before it was open again,” she said.
Another eye-witness said the airport was in “full lockdown”.
Islanders are being asked to avoid the airport, with disruption to all flights.
Bus services are currently not stopping at the airport.
Due to an incident at the Airport buses will not be stopping there until further notice.
