The proposed plans are designed to reduce speeds on the roads leading to St Clement’s, St Christopher’s and Le Rocquier schools.

On the junction between La Rue de Samarés with La Rue de la Croix, plans suggest building a raised table junction. A similar arrangement is proposed at the junction of La Rue du Pontlietaut with La Rue de la Croix, with a narrowed road and built-out pavements to help direct the flow of pedestrians. Plans also suggest turning La Rue de Maupertuis into a walking route by preventing through traffic and only allowing access to premises.

The proposals come after the school travel plan identified safety concerns. Over half of the students walk or cycle to school and most of these are from Le Marais and Le Squez areas.

Information banners providing details of the proposals for the improvement will be available for viewing during a drop-in session held by the Dfi and the Parish at the Eastern Good Companions Club (Rue de Maupertuis) today between 18:00 and 19:00.
