With just two weeks to go before the big day, St Brelade has announced it is pulling its main float from this year’s Battle of Flowers parade – with no explanation yet given for the sudden withdrawal.

The parish confirmed the decision in a social media post, saying it was made with “heavy hearts”, and that there were “several reasons” they had come to the “extremely difficult” decision.

However, the junior entry is not affected by the decision and will still be taking to the high street in the one-off free town parades taking place next month.

It’s not the first time St Brelade’s senior Battle team have encountered difficulties.

Due to “safety issues”, the senior float had to pull out on parade day and never made it down Victoria Avenue in 2022.

This year’s celebration will feature over 20 floral floats up to 30ft in length, alongside bands, dance troupes, and local entertainers.

The day parade will start at 13:00 on Friday 8 August, whilst an illuminated floats and firework finale will feature during the evening parade from 19:30 on Saturday 9 August.

Discussions are underway to return the parade to its home on Victoria Avenue for 2026, which will enable the reintroduction of the 45ft floats.

Express has attempted to contact the St Brelade Battle team but is yet to receive a response.
