Islanders should keep their eyes peeled for a glimpse of an iconic Second World War aircraft that will be flying over Jersey today and will visit Guernsey next month.

Built in 1944, the Supermarine Spitfire TR9 “G-ILDA” is making a two-day visit this week and, for a price, a lucky few will have the chance to take to the skies.

The aircraft arrived at around 10am yesterday, marking the latest in a series of flights to locations including Perth, Leeds, and Bournemouth.

Operator Spitfires.com is also scheduling a two-day visit to Guernsey on 24 and 25 June.

Prices for the experience start at £3,500 for a 30-minute flight, rising to £5,000 for 45 minutes.
