Guernsey Cricket has appointed Ilze van der Westhuizen as the island’s new Cricket Development Manager and Head Coach of the Senior Women’s National Team.
A professional with more than two decades of experience as a player and coach, it was this calibre that drew attention from Guernsey Cricket, said the club, with her background in both high-performance coaching and grassroots participation aligning with its current strategy.
“Ilze brings outstanding experience and energy to this role,” said Richard Headington, Guernsey Cricket’s Chief Operating Officer.
“Her background in both participation and performance cricket, particularly in women’s and junior development, aligns perfectly with our strategic priorities.
“We are delighted to welcome her to Guernsey and look forward to the impact she will have across the game.”
The organisation said it has aims to strengthen player pathways from junior levels to senior teams, and to increase inclusion by growing the women’s and girls’ game, as well as expanding community reach by boosting cricket participation within state schools.
These align perfectly with Van der Westhuizen’s goals, she said.
