The Healthcare Group Masters Mile series returns tonight with a combined event for over 50s alongside younger runners.
The latest Masters Mile event takes place as part of the Healthcare Group Vazon Mile this evening – where the older participants will mix in with some ‘youngsters’ as part of timed races based on everyone’s ability.
The Masters Mile series started last month – sponsored by Healthcare Group and supported by Dr Vicky Carre.
“We’re incredibly proud to be sponsoring the Healthcare Group Masters Mile for the second year in a row,” she said.
“The series is a fantastic way to promote staying active and healthy, and proves that running over 50 isn’t just possible, it’s hugely positive for both physical and mental wellbeing.
“There was such a good turnout last year and it’s great to see the series becoming a firm fixture in Guernsey’s sporting calendar. We hope this year’s events will inspire even more islanders to challenge themselves and get involved.”
Guernsey Athletics’ endurance director Chris Gillman said: “Guernsey Athletics is delighted that the Healthcare Group Masters’ Mile Series is returning for a second year.
“This is an ideal opportunity for anyone over 50, regardless of ability, to come and join in. Running should be accessible to people of all ages and hopefully this will provide the ideal incentive for those looking at ways to stay active, whether they are beginning their journey or thinking about alternatives to what they are currently doing.”
The Masters’ Mile season finale is at the new Festival of Miles on the running track at Footes Lane on Sunday 21 September.
