Guernsey FC visit Raynes Park Vale this weekend, needing a win – and other results to go their way – as they fight to get out of the relegation zone.
It’s the Green Lions first away game in almost a month due to previous postponements.
The visits to Kingstonian on 4 February and Farnham four days later were both put back due to waterlogged pitches, meaning GFC’s last away game was a 4 – 1 loss to Moneyfields on 25 January.
This weekend’s trip to Raynes Park Vale is just the start of a tough run of away fixtures with the rescheduled trips to Kingstonian and Farnham Town coming up along with visits to Leatherhead and Hayes & Yeading United.
The club has acknowledged “the home games in between could prove crucial”.
GFC’s opponents this weekend are currently unbeaten in their last four matches under their new manager, Hayden Bird.
However, the home side lost their “star man” Jordan Gallagher to league leaders Farnham Town, and some more players also left the club when their previous manager left.
GFC will feel the loss of Dave Merris and Fin Patterson this weekend, with both unavailable, while injuries will keep out Matt Loaring and Owen Wallbridge.
Last time the sides faced each other, Vale edged it 2-1 when they visited Footes Lane in October, whilst last seasons trip to Raynes Park in April 2024, saw a nine-goal thriller.
Guernsey were on the unlucky side then with a Sam Murray hat-trick among the goals in the 5 – 4 loss.
The first half will be shown live on Guernsey FC’s YouTube channel, HERE.
There’ll also be a full match commentary available on X (formerly Twitter), social media updates provided as usual, and following the match highlights will be uploaded to YouTube and the clubs social media.
