Following the battering the Bailiwick took during Storm Goretti, La Grande Mare has confirmed that damage to the Hi-Nets has resulted in its new driving range being temporarily closed.
The club has confirmed that the Golf Performance Centre, its coaching studios and custom fitting, as well as the Cafe remain open while the construction of the wider site continues.
Last Thursday night hurricane strength winds shook the Channel Islands, with Guernsey recording wind speeds up to 95mph, with 111mph recorded in Alderney.
Hundreds of trees fell in the storm, while homeowners and businesses reported shattered roofs and smashed cars.

Operations manager Fay Boyd added that “while there was no damage caused to the steel frame of the new country club, a number of mature trees on the new course had sadly been uprooted”.
“These would be removed in the coming days by La Grande Mare’s landscaping and greenkeeping teams whose focus on Friday had been helping to clear surrounding roads for the safety of neighbours,” he said.

A spokesperson confirmed an update on when the driving range will reopen will be provided through the club’s social media accounts.
