Alison Merrien will defend her single titles against England’s Katherine Rednall as the BIIBC culminates today.

The women’s singles final takes place at 2pm in Llanelli.

Merrien beat Scotland’s Claire Anderson 21-18 in yesterday afternoon’s semi final.

She had established a 7-0 advantage after the first four ends of that clash, but that lead was clawed back and the pair then traded blows as the lead changed hands, with at one point the Scot stretching out to 17-13.

In a nerve wracking finale, the pair were locked at 17-all after 21 ends. Anderson took a one shot lead, before Merrien then scored two on each of the next couple of ends for the win.

The Channel Islands’ only other representative in the finals is Jersey’s Chloe Greechan in the women’s juniors, where she is playing Wales’ Lauren Gowen.

The men’s triples of Alan Merrien, Josh Bonsall and Ian Merrien lost out 21-9 in their semi final clash with Ireland.
