James Priest is believed to have been the quickest Bailiwick runner in the 2026 TCS London Marathon.

On a hot day in London, the Guernsey man (pictured top in a file image) crossed the line in 2:39:27 – nearly ten minutes outside his personal best, set in 2024.

He was followed across the line by Ciaran Slattery in 2:51:10, Daniel Blake, who covered the 26.2miles in 3:00:54, Tim Wilson in 3:16:31, and James Adam in 3:20:07.

Tens of other runners from Guernsey ran in after them – with many raising thousands of pounds for charities including Guernsey Mind, Les Bourgs Hospice, Citizens Advice Guernsey, Parkinsons UK, ActionAid, the Anthony Nolan Trust, the Lord’s Taverners, PoTs UK, MacMillan Cancer Support, The Gardens Trust, WigWam, and many more.

Nearly 60,000 people were expected to run yesterday, confirming the TCS London Marathon’s position as one of the world’s largest sporting events and one of the world’s largest fundraising events.

In the elite race, it was a record breaking day as a new world record for the marathon was set – with the sub-two hour barrier broken for the first time under race conditions.

The first two men both ran inside two hours, with the third placed man also breaking the previous world record.

Sebastien Sawe of Kenya was first, and is the new world record holder, 1:59:30, with Ethipia’s Yomif Kejelcha second in 1:59:41. Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo was third in 2:00:28.

Mahamed Mahamed was the first British runner to cross the line. He came tenth in 2:06:14.

Ethiopia’s Tigst Assefa was first in the women’s race in 02:15:41. Eilish McColgan was the first British woman home in 2:24:51.
