The Guernsey Football Association has opened the sales for tickets for the 107th Muratti Vase, which takes place a week on Saturday. It will be played at Victoria Park for the first time ever.

The highlight of the local football calendar, this year’s tournament will mark the historic moment for inter-insular football as fans from both Guernsey and Jersey surge through the turnstiles for the first time at the new home of Guernsey football.

Once again, both the Men’s and Women’s Muratti matches, sponsored by Close Finance, will take place on the same day as the islands’ compete for victory at Guernsey’s newest sports venue.

Guernsey go into the competition with much more weight on their shoulders than Jersey.

The Green side of the Channel Islands have the goal of retaining both the Men’s and Women’s trophies.

The inter-island tournament will kick off with the Women’s Muratti at 10:15, with the Men following on, at 15:00.

Jersey firmly secured their place in the men’s final, following a convincing 2-0 defeat of Alderney in their semi-final clash at The Arsenal in March.

Guernsey FA’s Chief Executive, Gary Roberts is looking forward to it already.

“We all know how much Muratti Day means to players, supporters, and everybody else involved. We can’t wait to welcome fans from across the islands through the turnstiles on 17 May for what will be such a momentous occasion here at Victoria Park.

“By holding both matches on the same day, fans are promised a mega day of football from start to finish, and we invite everyone to turn out in force to support the teams in what will be a truly memorable day for Channel Islands football.”

The mathes are ticketed-only events, and the GFA says that “significant demand is expected”.
