Archie Corbett and Elliot Corbel open up about men’s mental health in sport, while looking ahead to another packed weekend of Jersey action.

Movember provides the starting point for this week’s Bailiwick Sports Podcast, as Archie Corbett and Elliot Corbel have an honest conversation about men’s mental health and the role sport can play in supporting it.

Drawing on their own experiences, the pair discuss how sport has helped their mental wellbeing, why men need to feel more comfortable speaking up and the importance of having open conversations around a subject that remains hugely significant.

There is plenty happening on the pitch, too. Jersey-born Callum Osmand enjoyed a memorable European night with Celtic, scoring and assisting in a thrilling 3-2 Europa League victory over Besiktas.

The striker found the net just 49 seconds after coming off the bench, scoring with his first touch, before also setting up a goal in Celtic’s first European win of the season.

Jersey Bulls midfielder Jarma Mohamed has also earned an international call-up, joining the Somalia squad for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Domestically, the Bulls travel to Hartley Wintney on Saturday with the chance to move four points clear at the top of the league.

Second-placed Bognor Regis were beaten in midweek, while Mohamed is away on international duty. Captain James Querée gives his thoughts ahead of the trip.

It is a top-versus-bottom clash for Jersey RFC, meanwhile, as unbeaten Oundle visit CoinShares Park, hear from coach Myles Landick as he reflects on last week’s defeat and looks forward to the Oundle test.

Evan Whitson returns to the starting line-up, Huw Owen is back in the side and Lewis Evans gets the nod at fly-half.

The Bucktrout Trophy is also up for grabs as Jersey take on Guernsey in the tennis inter-insular, with the island chasing a fifth consecutive victory.

The Men’s, Ladies and Over 45’s involved across an exciting weekend of action at the Ceasereans Tennis Club – with an exciting subplot regarding both Jersey and Guernsey’s top seeds.

Jersey’s Over-35 hockey side are also back in action, travelling to face Old Cranleighan on Sunday after opening their England Hockey Championship campaign with a penalty-shuffle victory over Southgate.

There is plenty of local football on the agenda as the domestic leagues continue.

Get up to speed with the weekend ahead in this week’s Warm Up.
