Ashburton Investments has strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of Mark Cleary as Risk Manager.

In this new role, Mr Cleary will take on responsibility for overseeing all of Ashburton’s investment, business and operational risk, with a remit to roll out a range of strategic initiatives specifically aimed at strengthening Ashburton’s risk management capabilities in both the investment and operational spheres.

As Chairperson of Ashburton's Risk and Compliance committee and a member of the Ashburton Investments Developed Markets Management Committee, he will also play a key role in ensuring that risk management is fully aligned with Ashburton’s business strategy.

Mr Cleary brings with him 25 years of experience in the finance industry across the Channel Islands and Europe, and most recently was a Director at Barclays Wealth Fund Managers in Jersey and Guernsey. As well as having a degree in financial services, Mark is also a CFA Charterholder, an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and a member of the Institute of Directors, holding the Certificate in Company Direction.

Peter Bourne, Managing Director, Ashburton Investments Jersey, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Mark to our team. His appointment recognises the importance and priority Ashburton places on risk management in today's demanding investment environment, whilst his expertise and significant experience will undoubtedly benefit Ashburton Investments as we underline our focus on risk management as a core and integral part of the way we do business.”
