The Guernsey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA) is inviting dog lovers of all ages to take part in the ever‑popular Fun Dog Show, one of the highlights of Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday, taking place on Sunday 3rd May.
The Fun Dog Show will begin at 12.30pm, with registration open from 11.00am on the day. Open to all breeds and types of dogs, the show is all about celebrating personality, fun and the special bond between dogs and their owners.
A wide range of classes will be available throughout the afternoon, including:
- Best Male Puppy (under 2 years)
- Best Female Puppy (under 2 years)
- Lovely Ladies
- Fabulous Fellas
- Best Rescue
- Waggiest Bum / Happiest Handler
- Golden Oldies (7 years +)
- Best Trick
- Best Fancy Dress
- Dog Most Like Their Owner
- Best in Show (open to winners of the previous classes)
A minimum £5 donation per dog allows entrants to take part in as many classes as they wish, with participants able to enter their dogs on the day.
Seb Goman, Senior Animal Care Assistant and Welfare Officer, said: “The Fun Dog Show is always one of the most enjoyable parts of Seafront Sunday. There’s a great atmosphere, lots of laughter and some truly brilliant dogs and owners taking part. We have some amazing rosettes and other prizes, and it’s really about having fun while celebrating everything we love about our dogs.”

GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne encouraged the community to come along and get involved:“Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday is a fantastic day out for the whole family, and the Fun Dog Show is always a real highlight. We’re also incredibly grateful for any prizes donated towards the dog show and welcome volunteers to help us make the event a success.”
He added: “With hundreds of stalls, entertainment and activities across the seafront, it’s a wonderful opportunity to support animal welfare while enjoying a great day together.”
