Blue Islands partnerships ‘to bring 44,000 visitor nights’

Blue Islands has announced a set of partnerships with European tour operators which the airline says will result in 44,000 visitor nights and a £6m boost to the Channel Islands’ economy.

The flight provider has been selected by tour operators as the partner airline flying visitors from The Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland to Guernsey and Jersey throughout 2022.

The first flights arrived from Bremen and Stuttgart at the weekend to commence the busy summer charter programme from 20 German airports through to October on behalf of Globalis. Tour operators Rolf Meier Reisen and Sunair will be welcoming guests from Zurich, Rotterdam and Groningen.

Last month, Blue Islands also introduced a new link between Jersey and Rennes - the island's first direct link to France in seven years.

It comes after the airline received a £10m loan from Jersey's Government to help maintain island air links amid difficulties caused by the pandemic.

"We are delighted to once again be working closely with our tour operator partners, promoting Guernsey and Jersey to inbound guests. We look forward to welcoming everyone on board as they re-discover our beautiful islands this summer," CEO Rob Veron said.

Meryl Laisney, Head of Marketing and Product at Visit Jersey, added: "Germany, The Netherlands, and Switzerland are promising markets for Jersey and the Blue Islands charter programme strengthens the island's accessibility to European visitors. We look forward to welcoming repeat and new visitors alike to our scenic shores to experience what makes Jersey the ultimate island break."
