Cardiologist joins Innovation Fund engineering firm

Monday 24 August 2020

The hospital’s Chief Clinical Information Officer has joined the board of an Innovation Fund success story company.

Specialised engineering firm SRJ Technologies has welcomed cardiologist Dr Andrew Mitchell, who went on to advise digital health start-ups after founding his own heart screening company.

He is also Non-executive Director of AIM-listed investment company Adams Plc.

Dr Mitchell’s appointment comes shortly after the firm – which received the biggest loan from the Innovation Fund and was one of the first companies to pay its loan off in full – announced it was readying itself to list on the Australian Stock Exchange.

“I have watched the business grow from being just a great idea in 2011, to their preparation for listing on the Australian stock exchange in September 2020,” he commented.

“The products and services they have developed already are game-changing for industries such as oil and gas, and provide benefits for us all by helping protect our environment. This is just the beginning of SRJ’s journey as it increases its global expansion and I am looking forward to working with Chairman, Rob Pinchbeck and CEO, Alex Wood who heads up a bright and innovative team.”

Mr Pinchbeck commented: “Andrew is collaborative, exceptionally bright and an aficionado of technology. He not only understands it, but he also understands people and so he is a great cultural fit for us and the modern business model that we operate.”

Dr Mitchell will be accompanied on the board by Australia-based corporate compliance expert Grant Mooney.

SRJ has also recently appointed David Milner – a former CEO of an $200million-a-year Australian engineering services company – as consultant and Director.

The St. Helier-based firm’s recent success has inspired a board member of the now-defunct Innovation Fund, Aaron Chatterley, to call for its return as a way of kickstarting the island’s pandemic-hit economy.
