Monday 09 December 2019

A man in his late 20s was left with a cut and bruised face after being attacked on his way home from a black tie event.

Police are now looking for the attacker, which they say took place between 02:25 and 02:40 on Sunday 8 December outside Vauxhall Gardens on Vauxhall Street.

He is described as being “an English white male of proportionate build in his late 20’s to early 30’s, with receding brown hair and facial stubble."

They added that he was wearing a blue top, and had been in a group of five to 10 people immediately before the attack.

The victim, meanwhile, was “a white male, 6’0” tall, with short light brown hair, dressed in a black tuxedo and carrying a white takeaway bag”.

Describing the alleged sequence of events, Police said: “There was a brief disagreement between the suspect and the victim, following which the suspect has started to repeatedly punch the victim in the face, causing him to fall to the ground where the suspect continued to punch him to the face. The suspect left the area heading towards New Street/Val Plaisant.”

They now want to hear from any witnesses or those with further information, and ask that they call 612612 or make an anonymous report via the Crimestoppers website.
