One man is making a ‘bald’ gesture for Les Bourgs Hospice – shaving off his luscious locks to raise money to support its work.
Known to many people for his work as the front man of Beanies Coffee Shop and through his performances in local drama productions, the former Town Church Rector, and Funeral Director, Matt Barrett is easily recognisable by his blonde, arctic locks.
Soon, they’ll disappear, in exchange for donations towards the running of the Bailiwick’s only hospice.
Mr Barrett decided to lose his locks to raise money for the charity to support its work providing compassionate palliative care and respite services.
As well as shaving his head later this month, Mr Barrett will be donating an additional 10p for every transaction made through Beanies, whether that be during their regular weekly round or at The Farm Shop on Saturday mornings.

His sponsored head shave will take place on Wednesday 27 August.
That date has been chosen to coincide with The Musical Theatre’s production of Calendar Girls, which starts the following day.
The musical production is based on a true story of how a local WI in a Yorkshire village produced a very different calendar in memory of one of their husband’s John.
Mr Barrett will be taking on the role of John in the production and said that as well as it being a way to get truly into the character, “I’m also doing this because I want to raise lots of money for the wonderful work of Les Bourgs Hospice”.
Rob Jones, CEO of Les Bourgs Hospice is also making an appearance in the production and expressed his gratitude for the fundraising initiative.
“Thank you so much Matt! The audience have a treat in store with Calendar Girls. It’s a wonderfully funny and gently touching musical and a joy to be part of”.
Donations can be made via giving.gg and updates will be shared on Beanies Coffee’s social media channels.
