For twenty years, Colin Prigent has cared for the grounds at Government House – something appreciated by our green fingered Monarch.
In his Birthday Honours List, King Charles has bestowed a Silver Royal Victorian Medal on Mr Prigent.
The RVM is a personal gift bestowed by the Sovereign to ‘reward extraordinary, important, or personal services to the British monarch or the Royal Family’.
Established by Queen Victoria in April 1896, there are three separate levels, bronze, silver, and gold.
Having started off as a gardener at Government House, Mr Prigent progressed to Deputy Head Gardener, and now his efforts have been recognised by the monarchy.
Described as a “private individual” Mr Prigent declined a request to interview.
Mr Prigent and his family were invited to join others at Government House today for a reception to mark the King’s Official Birthday.
