Recipients of the Guernsey Music Bursary gave a recital to those supporting the initiative earlier this month, to mark the record number of bursaries awarded for 2025.

The performers included Sam Cole, Archie Purdue, and Joseph Stoller, who have played together since they were ten years old and are now going on to prestigious music schools.

Other performers were Benjamin Childs, Madeleine Vaudin, and Anya Blue Robins, who have already received a portion of their bursary as part of ongoing studies. .

The bursary provides financial support and mentoring, with a new “tie-up” with the Royal Northern College of Music announced for students studying there.

The initiative is funded by donations and is designed to help young musicians progress in their professional careers.

Following the recital, those behind the bursary have made a plea to individuals, institutions, and organisations that may be interested in providing future financial backing and support.

A spokesperson said: “In order to build up the charity’s reserves to cover the commitment being made for payments in future years, we are inviting donations from any individual, trust, corporation or other entity that is interested in helping to strengthen even further the island’s strong musical heritage by supporting Guernsey’s leading musicians of the future.”
