A second independent Guernsey business has announced it will close in less than 24 hours.
Japanese drinks specialist Tokkuri confirming it will shut its Trinity Square bar and shop next month.
The business said its final day of trading at the venue will be 15 August, describing the decision as one made with an “extremely heavy heart”.
In a statement on social media, the team said it was an “incredibly difficult decision to make and we’re sorry that we can’t be there to carry on our service to you going forward”.
The announcement comes just hours after Guernsey’s only dedicated independent bookshop, Writer’s Block, revealed it will close later this year amid mounting pressures facing small retailers.
Tokkuri opened in Trinity Square in 2024, offering a range of Japanese sake, whisky, beers and spirits alongside tastings and events.

While the physical shop and bar will close, the business said several parts of its operation will continue.
“Our Online Shop, Wholesale and events will continue into 2027, as well as our consultancy work,” the statement said.
The company also confirmed that gift cards will remain valid through its online business, with vouchers redeemable for tastings and deliveries.
Tokkuri did not give a specific reason for the closure in its statement but thanked customers for supporting the business over the past two years.
“We really want to thank everyone who has come to see us over the last two years. You’ve made this worth doing, and we’ve loved every minute of it with you.”
The team invited customers to visit before the final day of trading, adding “thank you, and if you can, please do come in and say かんぱい (Kanpai) one last time” – a Japanese toast, equivalent to “cheers”.
