Elaine Brady will take on the Jersey Marathon this weekend, and then the Dublin Marathon three weeks later on Sunday 27 October.

She will be raising money for local cancer charity Clic Sargent after seeing “first-hand the incredible support they provide to families”.

The charity was “instrumental” in supporting Elaine’s family friend Callum McNulty during his treatment for Ewing Sarcoma, a type of paediatric cancer that forms in bone or soft tissue.

Callum sadly passed away on 21 July 2022 at the age of 18.

I want to raise funds to give back to this amazing charity, in memory of a young man who was a massive part of our lives,” said Elaine.

Callum loved to hear about my running stories; we hoped that the next time I ran the Jersey marathon, he would run some of it with me, so it is fitting that I raise money in his memory.

“This is the reason I’m taking on the challenge of two marathons in the space of three weeks.

“It won’t be easy, but when it gets tough I’ll remember Callum’s resilience throughout his treatment, particularly when he had to learn to walk again.”

Elaine – who is Head of Finance at All Island Media, the parent company of Bailiwick Express and the JEP is hoping to raise £1,000 for Clic Sargent.

She said: “Please donate whatever you can, it will make a difference in the lives of families who need support.

“Please remember Callum, the amazing young boy that fought so hard.”
