Two people have been rescued from an office building on the Esplanade where firefighters are tackling a fire.

The office block, on 37 Esplanade, has been evacuated due to the “structure fire” on the sixth floor.

Two people were rescued from a lift on the ground floor unharmed.

No injuries have been reported, according to the Jersey Fire and Rescue Service.

Around 25 firefighters are tackling the blaze, with four fire engines initially deployed to the incident. One has since returned to the fire station.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, with an investigation to be launched “in due course”.
