Around 100 islanders dressed as squirrels this weekend to take part in an annual fundraising run in memory of a father and son.

The Squirrel Scurry was first launched in 2025 to honour what would have been the 50th birthday of Dean Lowe, who died in a hit-and-run in 2023 alongside his 11-year-old son Charlie.

The second annual event was held this weekend to raise money for Acorn Enterprises and the Lowe’s Legacy Fund.

Mr Lowe was an active supporter of Acorn through his role at Jersey Employment Trust, which helps people with disabilities and long-term health conditions find work and training.

The Lowe’s Legacy Fund promotes accessibility to the arts and music, supports disadvantaged communities in the island, and aids the development of those with learning disabilities.
