The Jersey Opera House will play host to a spectral ballet performance inspired by one of the island’s most mysterious legends: the Black Dog of Bouley Bay.
Internationally acclaimed Belgian choreographer Jeroen Verbruggen is behind the new production, which will see the famous story reimagined through an abstract and surrealist lens.
Ballet d’Jèrri will premiere ‘Black Dog Noir’ from Friday 12 to Sunday 14 June.
The show follows the dance company’s recent appearance at the Royal Opera House’s Linbury Theatre, where it performed alongside world-renowned companies including The Royal Ballet and Paris Opera Ballet.
Audience members are being invited to immerse themselves in the theme with an optional black-and-white dress code.
Black Dog Noir will be presented as a double-bill alongside Marco Goecke’s ‘Whiteout’, which is set to the music of Bob Dylan.
Tickets are available on the Opera House website on a ‘pay what you can’ basis, with a limited number being sold at £5.
VIP tickets for the premiere performance on Thursday 12 June include a glass of champagne before the performance, followed by a post-show reception and canapés with the dancers and creative team.
