Jean and Leon’s early morning walk together yesterday morning on Greve D’Azette beach turned into a rescue mission after Leon strayed too far out to sea.

Hearing Leon’s barks, Jean got into the water herself to try and find her dog after he chased a seagull over some rocks and disappeared from view.
Whilst Jean was swimming back to shore, still looking for Leon, she saw that the Fire Service had been called and they were out in their rescue craft trying to encourage the dog onto the rib.
The crew couldn’t get Leon onboard, but managed to encourage his doggy paddle in the direction of the shore, where his owner was very glad to be reunited with him.

Posting on the Jersey Dog Forum page, Jean explained that Leon is a Spanish rescue which is why he was reluctant to get on the boat. Jean wrote in a comment: “A BIG thank you to all involved, I’ve messaged ‘rescue’ they did a fab job. Lovely bunch. He was scared to get in the boat, he’s a Spanish rescue so he’s wary of men for some reason.”
At the time of writing, the video of the rescue has been viewed over 1,800 times, with many islanders wishing Jean and Leon well after the relief of his rescue.
