Alastair Chalmers hurdled his way to a personal best, a meet record, 5th place on the British all-time fastest list, and a place at the World Championships this weekend.

Competing in the 400metre hurdles at Weltklasse Rehlingen, Chalmers accelerated out of the starting blocks in lane two to cross the finish line first in 48.30.

His 48.30 win knocked 0.24 seconds off his personal best time over the 400m hurdles.

It was a meet record for the Watch Athletics event, and puts him fifth on the British all-time list.

Guernsey Athletics’ Paul Ingrouille described Chalmers run as “brilliant” and “genuinely world class”.

Chalmers 48.30 run on Sunday paves his way to the World Championships in Tokyo later this year.

The qualifying times for the 400m hurdles was 48.70 to 48.50.

The 2025 World Athletics Championships are scheduled to be held from 13 to 21 September in Tokyo.
