Guernsey’s Gian Luca Robilliard, Chris Bain, Darcey Hodgson, and Kate Bain will all be running in one of the Island Games flagship athletics events finals in Orkney on Friday.

Robilliard and Bain have won their way into the men’s 800m final which takes place at 13:15 on Friday before the women’s race at 13:25.

Bain won his heat in 1:59.95 while Robilliard (pictured top – Oliver Kidman) came second in his heat in 1:57.52.

The woman’s 800m final will feature both Hodgson and Bain who won their places in last night’s heats.

Hodgson was first across the line in her heat on Wednesday evening, running the 800m in 2:14.88.

Alderney’s Emma Etheredge failed to qualify for the final but she put in a strong performance in the same heat to finish in 2:34.23.

Bain came second in her heat in a time of 2:19.04.

Alderney’s Etheredge had a busy night on the track in Orkney last night.

Not only did she run in the 800m heats but she also ran in the women’s 5000m final.

She came 11th out of the 14 starters, in 19:17.50.

Guernsey’s Eloise Scholes and Nix Petit came 6th and 7th respectively in 17:50.02 and 18:13.37.

Scholes time of 17:50.02 was a PB for her.

Theo Le Tissier looked to pick up an injury in the men’s 200m final last night.

He came in 6th in 22.95s. That was a PB for Le Tissier at his first Island Games. His previous best time over the distance was 24.04.

Le Tissier is down to run in the men’s relay heats on Friday if he recovers from any injury in time.

Elsewhere, Alderney’s Charmaine Johnson put in a strong performance in her shot put final to come 8th with a throw of 8.71.
