Micah Cohen repeated his achievement from 2024 and retained the Guernsey Table Tennis Association Summer League title, just pipping a number of other players with a maximum number of points in the final week.

During the 12 weeks of summer league, the junior rose through the tables to the very top and proved he can compete with established Division 1 players such as Jez Powell, Jamie Ferbrache, and Steve Ozanne. The latter two he was unlucky not to be victorious against with an 11-9 loss in the fifth set against each.

The youngster finished off the Summer League in style without dropping a set on Table 4 which featured former teammate, Shaun Mosley, former island champion Maurice James and up and coming junior Thea Cummins. This gave him an unassailable 79 points, rising from 4th place to 1st.

It was also breakthrough Summer League campaign for young Keira Eldridge who evidenced her recent improvements with a string of good results and competed well with players in divisions above her own.

Eldridge finished Week 12 by pulling off some good performances on a competitive table and finished in second place with an outstanding 77 points, just 2 behind the eventual winner once the lowest two scores were scratched.

Her final set of matches once again showcased Keira’s capability of challenging players from the second division, beating experienced Ravenscroft Panthers’ player, Peter Vivian and GTTA veteran Ian Fitchet who now plays in the third division.

Long-time leader Jez Powell came 3rd, closely followed by new Summer League players Rob Broad and Mike Corbin.
