The Cool Down is back with plenty to celebrate after another busy weekend of Jersey sport.

Sports Editor Elliot Corbel and Sports Reporter Archie Corbett look back on the latest action across the island and beyond, beginning with a sensational start to the Premier League 2 campaign for the Evelyn Partners Jets.

The Jets produced one of the results of the weekend, beating Team Bath 52-45 to make an impressive opening statement in the competition.

The pair also reflect on Jersey’s latest rugby meeting with Guernsey, with Elliot at the game as the Islanders continue their search for a first National League 2 East victory.

Jersey’s Ladies retained their Inter-Insular golf title, with the overall contest ending 3-1 in the island’s favour, while the Men’s side were beaten by a strong Guernsey team.

There was also plenty of cricket to celebrate, with Farmers comfortably overcoming Guernsey’s Norman Piette Cobo in the CI League Final to claim the island honours.

On the hockey pitch, the new season got underway with OV Convicts beating Hautlieu 6-0, while Crusaders edged Leopards 3-2 ahead of their Upton Cup meeting with Guernsey Colombians next weekend.

The local football season also provided plenty of talking points, with the Wheway Memorial Trophy quarter-final line-up now confirmed and four Jersey sides set to face Guernsey opposition in the next round.

The Jersey Bulls Women suffered a 3-0 defeat to Sutton United U23s, while the Under-16 Girls made an impressive start to their league campaign, recovering from 2-0 down to beat their mainland opponents 6-2.

And finally, after a frustrating wait, the Jersey Bulls Men’s FA Cup replay against Burgess Hill Town finally gets underway tonight.

Another packed weekend, another Cool Down.
