MO PLEASURE

This Friday the 16th of May, St James welcome multi-instrumentalist Mo and his incredible jazz/funk band to the stage! Doors will be opening at 7pm, with music kicking off at 8pm.

Morris ‘Mo’ Pleasure’s professional career spans the world of American R & B and pop, through his work with Ray Charles, George Duke, Earth Wind and Fire, Michael Jackson, Chaka Khan, Mary J Blige, Natalie Cole, David Foster and Bette Midler to name but a few.

In 1993 he became a member and the Musical Director of legendary group Earth Wind and Fire and featured (playing keyboards, trumpet and guitar) on Janet Jackson’s 2001 “all for you” tour. In 2009, as keyboardist for Michael Jackson’s highly anticipated “This Is It” tour, he performed at the pop legend’s memorial concert in Los Angeles. Along with the rest of the This Is It band, Mo is immortalized in the eponymously titled film, the best-selling musical documentary of all time.

Liberation Day may have been and gone, but the celebrations and commemorations continue!

As part of the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day, Guernsey Arts has commissioned and curated “Dear Unknown Friend”, the 99th exhibition to take place in the Greenhouse Gallery.

This contemporary art exhibition focuses on the experiences and challenges surrounding the evacuation of Islanders, using artefacts provided by Island Archives and Guernsey Museums. Within the exhibition, you will find the work of 13 local artists whose pieces aim to give a voice to those who lived during the evacuation and to tell their stories.

This special exhibition will be opening on Friday the 28th of March and will run until Sunday the 22nd of June.

The museum is open daily from 10am – 5pm. Tickets can be obtained from the front desk, and are free with the Discovery Pass.
