Pancake Day has been and gone, but which stories have made you flip this week and which have fallen flat?

From supermarket slanging matches to Guernsey’s first ‘hot dogtopus’ here are the Express stories that’ve sizzled in the last seven days.

1. Bickering over bargains

Things got a bit overheated by the offers fridge of a local supermarket, earlier this week.

Police were called after two men and two women got into a “verbal altercation” at Alliance on Braye Road.

2. Sex assault lawyer to learn punishment

An advocate who sexually assaulted two women will be sentenced in April.

Steven Balmer was found guilty of touching the womens’ bottoms last year, on a night out at a restaurant.

3. Petrol bomb threat for paedophile page

The owner of a Facebook group naming and shaming paedophiles and other sex offenders in Guerney considered closing the page because of a torrent of threats.

Zadie – not her real name – was told she’d have her face “smashed in”, while someone else threatened to petrol bomb her family.

4. Pet bus wheels to stop coming round

Pet owners will soon find it harder to get their beloved animals on and off the Channel Islands.

The Pet Bus – which transports animals to Jersey and Guernsey – will close at the end of March, blaming rising costs and unreliable ferries.

5. Far from run of the mill 

A 250-year-old flour mill has been reimagined for the 21st Century as a luxury home.

Vale Mill became the first property to be pre-aproved for the open market under new regulations, introduced last year.
