Jo Luce, who was born in the UK but lived in Ireland from 1971–1988, first came to Jersey to start work after finishing school.
“Initially I was a waitress and chambermaid in the hospitality sector before working my way into the finance industry,” Ms Luce said.
“I started to obtain qualifications that would help me to build, develop and achieve success. For the last 33 odd years I have worked hard, raised a family, eventually starting up my own business working with several brilliant people along the way.”
Ms Luce’s business, which offers wealth and asset management services, puts a percentage of its profits into training people, as well as giving back to local communities.
“We guarantee each year to give back profits into the local community and the other communities the business works in.
“This means giving money to things like Hospice, Durrell, the Women’s Shelter, several homegrown charities helping and supporting kids who may not have the same opportunities available to them.”
Ms Luce says she will ‘work hard to remove red tape from government’ so that young people can have their voices ‘properly heard’.
“I want our education to be the best we can possibly get it. I want healthcare to be brilliant and value driven. I want business to be free to do what it needs to do and I want us to raise strong revenue so that we can resource the island properly.
“I think that is very achievable if we open up government and get the right people in the right places.”
Leader of the Jersey Alliance party, Sir Mark Boleat, said: “Jo has built a highly successful business and has a strong record in building and training people through involvement in local charities. She is well qualified to make an excellent contribution as a States Assembly member and strengthens an already strong team of Alliance candidates.
Ms Luce is the latest addition to the list of candidates standing with the Jersey Alliance party, including Assistant Minister Deputy Lindsay Ash, former Senator Ted Vibert and barrister James Corbett.
