Guernsey FC’s first home game of the season ended in a 4-1 win over visitors Wick.

The Green Lions are playing in the Southern Combination Premier Division this season, after dropping down to step 5 in the football pyramid following their relegation at the very end of last season.

A home crowd roared them to success on Saturday afternoon though with a dominant display over Wick as they returned to action at Victoria Park.

The Green Lions were leading 2-0 by half time with Tom Vaudin – in his 100th appearance – and Fin Du Port hitting the back of the net.

Dave Crouch replied for the visitors in the 62nd minute, before Sam Murray scored a third for Guernsey in the 87th minute.

Ross Allen converted a penalty in the first minute of extra time to score another goal for Guernsey securing the win.

As the home victory was confirmed on the pitch, tempers were flying both on and off it as the whistle blew with yellow and red cards for a number of Wick’s players and backroom staff after they remonstrated with the referee.

Wick captain Charlie Robinson was among those shown a red card.

The Green Lions were celebrating their victory though and are now preparing for a trip to Seaford Town on Tuesday evening.
