Guernsey-born, AFC Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has been named in the 23-man England squad for this summer’s UEFA U21 EURO Finals in Slovakia.

His south coast team came close to qualification for European football next year. Despite falling short, it’s now certain that Scott will get a taste of the action, but now on the international stage instead.

England play Czechia on 12 June, (20:00), then Slovenia on 15 June (17:00), and then finally Germany on 18 June (20:00).

The top two teams of the group will then advance to the quarter finals. All games are live on Channel Four in the UK.

There’s some names linked to some big moves this summer that will be featuring alongside Scott, with Jarell Quansah attracting strong transfer interest from several clubs in both the Premier League and Bundesliga, with Liverpool reportedly “not ruling out” selling the young centre-back despite him signing a new long-term contract in October 2024.

Archie Gray had a superb debut season in 23/24, where he featured in 55 games for Leeds United, (including 90 minutes in the play-off final), he then joined Tottenham last summer, and has shown impressive versatility, playing as a right-back, left-back, and even centre-back while maintaining high performance levels.

Whilst this summer will see Jonathan Rowe’s loan move from Norwich City to Marseille become permanent, with the French club confirming the obligation to buy, that means Rowe is set to experience Champions League football with Marseille next season, a significant step in his career.

That’s all without mentioning Jobe Bellingham. The Sunderland Midfielder is rumoured to be likely to follow in the footsteps of his older brother, Real Madrid and England senior squad stalwart Jude Bellingham, in potentially joining Borussia Dortmund this summer.

There’s not long to wait to see if Scott can help steer England to silverware this summer with the first game against Czechia on 12 June.
