England Head Coach, Tuchel praised the 22-year-old former Guernsey FC player, saying it was time to reward him with an England call up.

“He had an excellent euros,” said Tuchel. “He won the title, Lee (Carsey) was full of praise. He did an excellent job in midfield, together with Elliot Anderson, who is now a regular starter for us, and was very impressive. But then he took another step and becomes a very regular starter now for Bournemouth, and they are in the top third of the league. They’re over performing constantly, and he is a starter for them. He puts the intensity in and he gets his minutes. So we thought this is maybe a perfect time to reward him and to get to know him and to see what he can bring to our team.”

Guernsey FC said everyone is “bursting with pride” after hearing the news this morning.

“To see someone who began their journey right here on our island now representing England at the highest level is an incredible moment not just for Alex, but for everyone who’s been part of his development over the years,” said the club.

“It’s proof of what can be achieved through talent, hard work, and belief. Congratulations, Alex – we couldn’t be prouder!”
