Tim Cook and co have been at it again, taking to the stage to give us the final details on the Apple Watch as well as a couple of other surprises too.
Here is the definitive list of everything Apple announced in California today.
Now we know. The cheapest Apple Watch will be the Apple Watch Sport at £299, with the top-of-the-line, limited edition, 18-karat gold Watch Edition starting at a cool £8,000. But you will be able to send other wearers your heartbeat…
Arguably the biggest head-turner, the new MacBook takes Apple’s notebook line-up to a trio of products alongside the Air and Pro versions. It is the thinnest Mac ever at 13mm – 24% thinner than the current Air, and at two pounds it is ridiculously light. There will be two versions of the device on-sale; one at £1,049 and a more powerful version at £1,299.
Something of a curveball, Apple announced plans to change the landscape of medical research. ResearchKit is a new open source app platform that enables developers to create software that cn be used to aid medical research, with data provided by users.
Apple showed us five apps that have already launched that are using data from those living with diseases like Parkinson’s, breast cancer and asthma.
Apple were quick to point out this was strictly an opt-in scheme and they would not view any data gathered from the tests involved in some of the apps. These included a tap test for the hand tremors associated with Parkinson’s.
One that appears more US-centric for now, but Apple TV’s price was dropped from $99 to $69. HBO Now, the studio’s new Netflix-competing streaming service, will also launch exclusively on Apple TV and other Apple devices.
