Freshers’ Week is drawing to a close and that means all those new students are approaching the terrifying moment when they’ll actually have to start doing work.

Right now it probably seems like there could be nothing crueller. You’ve just gained your independence, but now you’re expected to do stuff. Actual stuff.

None of these apps will help with your will power – there’s not a truly revolutionary app for that yet – but they’ll definitely help with some of the other bits. Here are the only five apps you’ll need to get you through that first year of uni life.

1. Payfriendz

For the moniezzz

You’ll soon learn that splitting the bills can be quite the source of tension in your house, and you’ll no doubt end up with a friend who never has any money and so always wants to borrow yours. Using Payfriendz you can request and make payments from the app, cutting down completely on those awkward walks to the cash machine…

2. EasyRoommate

For the accommodation

You’re off to uni and you’ve not got a room sorted yet?! Sorry, we don’t mean to add to your stress. EasyRoommate will help match you to your perfect roommate. Sure, they’ll probably still be messy and loud at the most inconvenient times, but aren’t all the best people?

3. Allrecipes

For ALL THE FOOD

Cooking can be a right pain, especially when the three dishes you know how to make consist of pretty much the same ingredients and are cooked in the same way.

Allrecipes crowdsources, you guessed it, recipes, from over 11 million users. You can choose the cheapest and they come with methods, pictures and ratings – so if you end up eating boiled rice with ketchup every night that’s on you, friend.

4. Refme

For the studying:(
