Part awards show, part press conference of new title and trailers, the Game Awards always tend to get gamers excited.
This year was no exception thanks to some eye-catching new game announcements as well as new sneak peeks of upcoming releases we already knew about. That’s not to mention an appearance from Mark Hamill.
Here’s the all the big news from the night.
It was only a sneak peek and it didn’t tell us too much, but more Nathan Drake only reminds you that the next adventure isn’t too far away (it’s out in March).
The very successful studio behind The Walking Dead games are now set to tackle another popular franchise in 2016; Batman. Given how good the The Walking Dead games have been so far, this looks set to be a fascinating new take on the Batman story.
On the subject of The Walking Dead, there was big news on that front too as it was revealed that everyone’s favourite samurai sword-wielding zombie killer, Michonne, is getting her own spin-off title.
The chance to train a wolf and sabre-toothed tiger? That’s pretty much all we need to know.
An intriguing combination of game and TV show that will run side-by-side next year, Quantum Break looks like it’s going to be quite an experience. Not a huge amount of new information here, but nonetheless a good excitement builder.
The Nintendo president sadly passed away earlier this year, and so the trailers paused and colleague Reggie Fils-Amie stepped forward to pay tribute to an icon of the video games industry.
As Hamill himself put it, he’s done a lot of stuff set in space, and it’s easy to forget which project he can and can’t talk about. Oh, and he’s still a little sad about being left off the Star Wars poster.
Rock Band is already a pretty fun experience, but how about this for putting a cherry on top? Oculus announced it has been working on bringing a virtual reality version of the band simulator to market, and it’s coming next year.
The breakout indie game of the year is finally making the jump to Xbox One – complete with some Xbox-exclusive franchise themed cars too. Roll on February.
