Vine once used to be a go-to platform for astronauts in space such as Terry Virts and Reid Wiseman.

The six-second long clips were perfect for showing all the cool things astronauts can do in zero gravity – like playing with water droplets and performing somersaults. They were also great for capturing stunning time-lapse videos of the spectacular views from the the International Space Station.

But the platform, which has around 200 million users, is being shut down by parent company Twitter in the coming months, so we have put together some of the best #spacevine clips.

1. Awesome floating water bubble

Captured by Reid Weisman in 2014.

2. Night-time Europe

Captured by Sam Cristoforetti in 2015.

3. Moonset in Japan

Captured by Terry Virts in 2015.

4. Spinning chain

Captured by Virts in 2015. The spin is caused by centripetal forces creating a circular shape.

5. Lightning in India

Captured by Virts in 2015.

6. Somersault on the ISS

Posted by Tim Peake in 2015. The footage was captured by the Esa but you have to admit, it looks so much better as a Vine loop.

7. Trippy view of constellation

Captured by Virts in 2015.

8. Release of the Cygnus capsule

Captured by Wiseman in 2014.

9. Aurora borealis

Captured by Wiseman in 2014.

RIP space vines.
