The early 2000s could be making a comeback thanks to a new smartphone from Samsung – rumoured to be a new flip phone.
New images have leaked online that appear to show a new Samsung that flips open, with touch screens on both sides of the top half of the device.
The images were published by Samsung news site SamMobile, which claims the images show a clam-shell version (tech-speak for flip phone) of the Galaxy S6, and the pictures quickly began appearing on social media.
Reports that Adele is the driving force behind the return of the flip phone remain unconfirmed.
SamMobile also reeled off an impressive list of apparent specs for the rumoured device, including the size of the dual screens – 3.9in – both of which will be Super AMOLED displays.
There’s also said to be a five megapixel camera, 64GB of storage and it will run Android Lollipop. And yes, that is a physical keyboard.
This isn’t even too much of a departure from the norm for Samsung, which still makes flip phones for some Asian markets.
Considering how popular the likes of the Motorola Razr was back in the early 2000s, it doesn’t seem too crazy a move to attempt to tap into some of that nostalgia either.
So if you still wish it was 2004, keep an eye out for this one.
