Anonymous say they're launching their biggest ever attack against Islamic State

Hacktivist group Anonymous has been taking down Islamic State (IS) websites for some time, but a post on Pastebin claiming to be from the network vows to hit them “harder than ever”.

IS claimed responsibility for a series of attacks in Paris on Friday, which have left at least 129 dead, and while police conduct anti-terror raids in locations across France and Belgium, Anonymous intend to put an end to IS’ propaganda.

A video was also released, in French, from someone claiming to be associated with Anonymous, saying: “Expect massive cyber attacks. War is declared. Get prepared.”

The video promised to launch “the biggest operation ever against you”.

Due to the nature of Pastebin it’s difficult to verify the message, but social media accounts associated with Anonymous have been vocal against IS and it’s reasonable to believe they’ll be stepping up their efforts to hack into the terror group’s websites.

The message said: “We are coming to get you, we will be hitting you harder than ever. We don’t need to tell you to expect us because we have already proven ourselves time and time again to you but you still show no regard for mankind. We are upping our game, you will now be hit by major cyber attacks.”

Elsewhere on Pastebin, and on Anonymous Twitter accounts, alleged IS supporters’ details have been left with users encouraged to “overwhelm the server where the email address is hosted”.

Anonymous stepped up its cyber attacks against IS targets following the Charlie Hebdo attacks in January.
