Sonos has confirmed that Apple Music will enter public beta on their smart speaker system from December 15.
The audio firm’s connected speakers link to a user’s smartphone over WiFi and an app on the phone, but until now has not incorporated playlists from Apple Music, which launched in June.
The beta – which means the feature is still only being tested – will enable Apple Music subscribers to play music from the various sections of the app through their Sonos set-up. This includes the For You, New, Radio and My Music sections, Sonos has confirmed.
The Sonos app enables users to control one or more speakers, placed in different rooms around the home, as they see fit – moving the music through the house with them as they need it. The California-based firm already counts Spotify among the streaming services that work within the app.
Since its launch in the summer, Apple Music has gained around 15 million users – with 6.5 million of them having become paying subscribers following the three month free trial that is available to all new users.
Sonos also confirmed that the public beta will be extended to general availability in early 2016.
