Apple is recalling more than a decade’s worth of wall plug adapters due to safety concerns.
According to the tech giant, in “very rare cases” the two-prong wall adapter that is designed for use in continental Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Korea and parts of South America can break, causing a risk of electric shock.
The company said the plugs were shipped between 2003 and 2015 with Mac and some iOS devices, as well as being part of the Apple World Travel Adapter Kit.
In a statement, Apple said: “Customer safety is always Apple’s top priority, and we have voluntarily decided to exchange affected wall plug adapters with a new, redesigned adapter, free of charge.”
The iPhone maker confirmed other wall plugs, including those made for the UK and US, as well as USB chargers, are not affected by the issue.
