Apple started talking about yaks at its iPhone SE launch event and excitement went through the roof

As Apple began its event to launch a new iPhone – the SE, which has a trend-busting four-inch screen – it needed something to get people excited.

To go alongside the announcement of a new affordable smartphone, they found the ultimate way to send people into a frenzy worldwide.

Showing a picture of some yaks.

The surprise cameo of everyone’s favourite woolly Asian mammal came as the tech giant explained how they had built solar panels in China without disrupting wildlife.

It provided a bit of light relief following a sobering opening from Tim Cook about the company’s battle with the FBI over privacy.

It was believed to be the first time the animal had officially been recognised at an Apple event.

Excited Twitter users were desperately searching for the right emoji to represent the moment.

Many were chomping at the bit to hear more information about exactly how Apple had been working with the yaks.

Everyone wanted a piece of the action.

Could this be a future collaboration?

It’s fair to say it distracted a few people from the event itself.
