Four words that are likely to catch the attention of almost any gaming fan: Assassin’s Creed VR experience.

Those are the words games studio Ubisoft has just put together in an official capacity during the keynote at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, tweeting the announcement again shortly after.

Not a huge amount is known about the project just yet beyond that the experience was filmed alongside the upcoming movie, which wrapped in January and is due for release at the end of year. Locations involved are said to be Malta, Spain and the UK – so it will be a live-action experience as opposed to something based on the games in the franchise.

Virtual reality studio Practical Magic is heavily involved with the project, and it was their president, Matthew Lewis, who made the announcement at GDC. He confirmed the finished product would be an experience and “not a game”.

Ubisoft also recently announced there would be no major Assassin’s Creed game in 2016, with the movie, which stars Michael Fassbender, set to be the next big thing to come in the series.
