Research from music streaming service Deezer has revealed some kinda embarrassing stats – under-25s in the UK recognise the lyrics of Justin Bieber more than the quotes of William Shakespeare.

In fact, it’s been revealed one in three young people couldn’t identify “To be or not to be” as belonging to Shakespeare. *shocked face*

And less than one in five (17%) recognised that it was the Bard who penned “All that glitters is not gold”.

But 61% of the 1,000 people surveyed successfully spotted that Justin sang “Is it too late now to say sorry?” Mind you, he is Deezer’s most streamed artist of 2016 so far.

Well, we definitely never find ourselves singing along to “Sorry”…(OK, maybe sometimes)

Sam Lee, Deezer UK & Ireland’s music editor, said: “Like Shakespeare, Justin Bieber is undoubtedly one of the most well-known figures of his time and his popularity means people nowadays seem to know their ‘baby, baby, baby, ohs’ more than their ‘wherefore art thou Romeos’.”

Of course, this weekend is the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death. So here’s a pic of a Shakespeare-inspired portrait of Justin, because why not?
