HTC has announced a new box-set of fitness trackers, including a wristband, chest strap and smart scale.
Movement trackers – more commonly known as wearables – have become increasingly popular in recent years, and now through a partnership with sporting apparel firm Under Armour the Taiwanese technology company is offering its own take on the subject.
In an announcement at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, HTC announced the Healthbox, a pack of three smart fitness items that the company says enable users to track daily activity, sleep, sport and nutrition.
The pack is made up of a movement tracking wristband, a heart rate monitoring chest strap and a smart, digital scale.
Wolfgang Muller, HTC’s executive director of emerging devices, said the firm wants to “take a leadership role” in the fitness tracking industry, and Healthbox’s products work across HTC devices, Apple’s iOS and Android.
The three devices in the Healthbox line-up will be tethered together by the UA Record app, which stores all data gathered across the three devices. The scale can also be programmed to recognise up to eight different users, and has both WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.
Movement and fitness tracking wristbands are already extremely popular products thanks to FitBit and other brands, however this is the first trio of devices to be offered as a single package of products.
HTC confirmed that for now, the products would only be available as a single pack. No UK release date has yet been confirmed.
