Last week Instagram, owned by Facebook, introduced Instagram Stories. The new feature was widely viewed as the same as Snapchat’s story feature, and an attempt by Facebook to stifle Snapchat’s influence.
Now it appears that features similar to what Snapchat offers will be appearing on Facebook itself.
The site is getting its own filters and stickers, although they’re currently only available in Canada and Brazil, in an apparent attempt to increase the level of sharing by users following a recent decline.
Video effects company MSQRD, owned by Facebook, helps provide the filters that appear when you enter the app, while the company is also using augmented reality technology.
Time will tell if the change has the desired effect.
