Along with its plans for virtual reality, global internet access and Wifi drones, Facebook has also been working on 360-degree video.
Filmed using a range of special cameras, those viewing the videos are then able to click and drag to look in every direction in a video.
Now the social network, via a post from co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, has confirmed this feature will begin to work on mobile devices.
In the post, Zuckerberg said: “360 video is a completely new experience because you can move the camera around. This opens new ways of sharing experiences and makes you feel like you’re part of what you’re watching. It’s a step towards even more immersive experiences.”
The example seen above was filmed in North Korea by ABC News, and the Facebook co-founder said he hoped the more interactive style would draw in more users.
“We think people will share a lot more 360 content in the future, especially as technology makes it easier to record it themselves. We’re excited you can discover them on Facebook,” he said.
